Are Your Communities Using the OSHA Form 300?

OSHA

There is really no doubt that OSHA is picking up the pace with its inspections and they are quick to point violations at any time.  I keep regular tabs through a couple of blog sites and using Google alerts to keep me posted on current litigation.  No business is immune and certainly property management companies [...]

No Excuses..Track your Leads!

Eric Brown tweet

There was a bit of a conversation yesterday on Twitter on lead tracking.  Apparently there is a bit of a problem in keeping track of all traffic that comes to your property.  The conversation helped validate a couple of key points for me.  You can’t rely solely on technology to respond to leads and as [...]

I have posted a couple of articles on budget season so far on dealing with the stress and the need for assertiveness.  This post is all about pure numbers.  The past couple of months have led to numerous conversations on decisions for 2011 and how they lay out on a budget proposal and project bottom [...]

It’s Time to End Business as Usual

The keynote speaker for the GAA conference in San Destin was outstanding. His name is Chris Lee from CEL & Associates and he was an extremely dynamic speaker who took numbers and stats and brought them to life. I have a feeling there will be a few blog posts trying to recap some of his content and my takeaways.

Buying into changes within our workplace can be something that is met with mixed emotions.  An implementation of a new policy, product or service can be met with jubilation or with downright nastiness.  The latter is what I am going to focus on in today’s post.

Wrap up for Multifamily Brainstorming Conference 2010

A Little Snippet of our Multi "Family"

In order to really honor this amazing conference there are a couple of things that need to take place. First of all don’t let the education we received go to waste. Use it and implement it. From beginning to end a very clear demonstration took place of what collaboration and networking can do to inspire us to do better tomorrow. The second item that needs to happen, deals with next year. Start planning now to attend next year’s conference. Some of the first timers I met told me that their company had created a unique incentive program in order for them to attend. What a reward! Can you think of ways to send some of your team members or yourself next year?

Tackling Property Management Budget Season without the Hives

88345902

I am not sure what is a more challenging subject to write about budgets or bedbugs.  They both make me itch and mentally break out in hives.  However depending on our job position it is one of those necessary evils to help us prepare for 2011.  I remember the day when I would furiously work [...]
