My Review of the Texas Apartment Association Smartphone App

I have only one expression to describe this app that the Texas Apartment Association put together. I absolutely LOVE IT!!!! This was such a pleasant surprise and a breath of fresh air when I was going through it. If you are like me, it can be really cumbersome to carry around papers and maps trying to figure out what sessions you want to go to and which vendors to visit. This application just made this so easy and I can’t wait to see it in action.

The Schedule

As you can see from this screenshot the schedule is very self-explanatory. Again there are no papers to shuffle through, just a simple layout of everything taking place in chronological order. Beautiful job Texas Apartment Association!! Now take a look at this next screen shot.

Add to Your Calendar

I have missed out on presentations simply because I forgot when they were and where they were. As you can see from this screenshot from my iPhone, you simply create a calendar event and of course you receive a reminder regarding that event. Looks like there is a great lineup of educational sessions so if you are using this app, make sure you go through and mark them in your calendar. The app also has a nice map feature to help you navigate your way around the trade show floor which is very helpful as well. Of course one of my favorites is the one you see in the next screenshot.

All the Buzz for The Lone Star Expo

I love so much that the Texas Apartment Association has included the social aspect of this event into their app. Not only does it appear to be setup to send conference attendees important updates but it also has a Twitter function that posts all tweets using the hashtag #TAA2011. Huge kudos for including that in your development! We live in a space where many people are interested in what the chatter is all about so this is a great value add.

All in all I give this app 2 thumbs up. If I had 4 thumbs I would be using them all. This is a classic example of how technology can serve as a great enhancement to a conference and make it enjoyable for everyone. I can only hope to see other Apartment Associations follow suit particularly some of the larger ones. The Texas Apartment Association is showing that our wonderful multifamily industry is always interested in going above and beyond the trends that exist. They by no means asked me to make this review. I did it of my own accord and I hope you enjoy this smartphone application as much as I am.  Here is the link for more info on the Texas Apartment Association Smartphone App

Wow! That’s awesome. This tiny association is envious.

All associations are wonderful and have big hearts and that’s what counts Kelle. Costs keep coming down for application development. I am not sure what it cost for TAA but the functionality I think is great. I can’t wait to use it real time this week. Thanks for sharing and commenting on the post!
